Description:

Angelica sinensis, also known as dong quai or “female ginseng” is a herb from the family Apiaceae, native to China. it grows in cool high altitude mountains in China, Japan, and Korea. The yellowish brown root of the plant is harvested in fall and is a well-known Chinese medicine used over thousands of years.

Angelica essential oil is extracted from the root of the yellowish angelica sinensis.It is thought to have arisen from Syria and was one of the few oils exported to the East. It is also known as “Root of the Holy Ghost” and “Angelica archangelica” due to the myth that the archangel Michael revealed its use as medicine. Angelica oil has a reputation for having an affinity for female disorders. In China Angelica is used to promote fertility and as a general tonic.
